Free piano concert at Emmitsburg Trinity United Methodist Church in Emmitsburg, MD.
Thanks for having a look around. This is where I share a little about my love for the piano and particularly the New Age and modern Neoclassical styles I enjoy playing the most.
Defining New Age and Neoclassical music is difficult because both terms can incorporate a wide variety of similar styles. "New Age" is often first associated with something spiritual, mystical or metaphysical while "classical" is always first associated with the music of Beethoven, Bach and such. To save confusion, I first describe both styles of music as simply "pretty music".
New Age Music: a style of chiefly instrumental music characterized by light melodic harmonies, improvisation, and sounds reproduced from the natural world, intended to promote serenity. (Oxford Dictionairy)
Neoclassicism: revival of a classical style (in art or literature or architecture or music) but from a new perspective or with a new motivation. (Collins English Dictionary)
Several favorite composers whose music I enjoy playing the most include David Lanz, David Nevue, Doug Hammer, George Winston, Greg Maroney, Louis Landon, Philip Wesley, Steven Cravis and Yiruma. There are many more!
This is my annual piano concert including new piano pieces selected specially for this performance. Pieces will include many contemporary New Age / Neo-Classical pieces along with FUN piano tunes and and arrangement of Simon & Garfunkle’s 1964 classic ‘The Sound of Silence’.
This is a free concert. Any free will offering will benefit the Brunwick Maryland Food Bank.
